friendship centre
Jesus says on more than one occasion that we are to care for those who have needs, share with those who are hungry & clothe those who need some clothing. (Matthew 19:11, Luke 3:11) Throughout the New Testament in the Bible, you can read the importance that the early church placed on fullfilling Jesus’ desire. (Acts 9:36, Acts 10:2, 2 Corinthians 9:9, Galations 2:10) Love, generosity & compassion are all characteristics that should describe us as followers of Christ. (1 John 3:15-17)
The “Friendship Centre” then is one way in which the rubber hits the road for us in our desire to express the love of God to those around us and be obedient to what God has asked of us. Every Wednesday morning from 9am-12 pm we open the “Friendship Centre” to our community; offering free, good conditioned clothing and household items. Our desire is through this we meet tangilble
and basic needs, being the hands and feet of Jesus.
Our desire is to also build relationship with everyone that comes and visits us, so we want to create a warm and inviting environment. We always make sure lots of coffee, pastries are available and try to get to know everyone we can.
We always are in need of people willing to spend a couple of hours and help in the basics of making this all happen. Like…
- Receiving household items
- Sorting and displaying clothes
- Visiting and just hanging out with our guests
