Spiritual Direction is the process of accompanying people on their spiritual walk …as they learn to listen for God in their own lives and hearts and to discover God in the everyday of their lives.
Spiritual direction is a conversation, ordinarily between two persons, in which one person shares with another spiritually experienced person about the ways in which God may be touching her or his life, directly or indirectly. It involves a process through which one person helps another person understand what God is doing and saying.
It is about having someone walk beside you while you grow spiritually, to listen and ask questions that help to unlock rooms in your life that have may have been locked for a lifetime. Someone that can speak into what they see God doing in your life. Discernment is a crucial gift in the work of spiritual direction.
The goal of spiritual direction is spiritual formation – the ever increasing capacity to live a spiritual life from the heart.
